This month, I’m excited to offer several opportunities to support our students:
● Wednesday Group Support: I will be meeting with students who are enrolled in the Dual Enrollment Child Development class to help them as a group. This is a great opportunity to collaborate and ensure everyone stays on track.
● FAFSA & Career Opportunities: If you need help with your FAFSA or would like to explore career options, you can make an appointment with me for one-on-one support.
● Evening Hours on Thursdays: I’m available from 4 to 7 PM during evening school hours to meet with both parents and students. We can discuss post-graduation plans, career paths, and more.
● Palomar College: General Presentation and Assistance workshop on Thursday, November 14 during evening program hours.
Experiencing community is one of the most enriching aspects of being human. It allows us to support one another during challenging times, work together to find collective solutions, share common spaces, and adopt habits that improve our lives. Above all, it fosters empathy, enhancing our understanding of others and enriching our lives. At Murray High School, we take great pride in cultivating this sense of community, and we are motivated by the fact that this feeling of togetherness is continuing to grow.
Every November, Vista Teen Outreach (VTO) takes a strong stand in fostering community by providing free food baskets to families in need. On November 23, these baskets are filled with all the ingredients required for families to celebrate Thanksgiving with abundance and joy.
This year, The Roof Master company joined the effort to deliver turkeys and hams to families at Murray High School. Their goal was to support 300 families and provide them with a fun day filled with family activities, including music, art, and crafts, on November 22.
"Since my son joined Murray, he has changed completely," said Roberto Hernández, the father of student Cristian Hernández, expressing his happiness about the significant increase in his son's interest in studying. Meanwhile, Elia Ortega, the mother of student Xóchitl Pérez, shared how she was inspired by the story of General Raymond Murray. He chose to support educational programs for students and their families to break down barriers to education.
During and after the Model Continuation meeting on November 14, a large group of parents actively participated and expressed their heartfelt emotions about our community school. Some attendees were even moved to tears during the meeting. It served as a valuable opportunity for parents to share their views and feelings regarding the Model of Continuation school.
Major General Raymond Murray High School is committed to preparing students to progress academically, to achieve success, and to accept responsibility for themselves. As a part of this commitment, the school has established attendance performance guidelines for all students.
