has been very busy. We wrapped up our first trimester and hosted our second annual fall festival where the surrounding community was invited to join us. Our leadership students ran the game booths and local elementary students enjoyed playing games and earning candy and prizes. The community school classroom is used as a place for our leadership club to meet during lunch and prepare activities such as the Fall Festival, which took place on 10/25/23. We hosted nearly 200 students and community members from 15 surrounding schools in the district. Our goal is to make all members of our school community feel welcome by hosting more events like this throughout the school year.
Students have participated in various Leave to Learn experiences as part of our new Big Picture Learning initiative. Students had the opportunity to visit the Public Works Department Yard, Toyota of Escondido, and the Moonlight Amphitheater production of Seussical. Students are provided with a growing number of opportunities to get involved in various activities on campus. We celebrated Hispanic Heritage month with a rotating advisory activity that encouraged all students to get involved in cooking, baking, serving, decorating, creating, designing, and collaborating with each other in intramural activities on campus. We hope to incorporate more activities like this for students throughout the school year.
