Community Liaison
A garden that benefits both schools and communities
The creation of a school garden is a noble activity that instills confidence, new knowledge, and physical skills in young people. In the long run, this has a positive impact on their community.
As the young people prepare the materials, irrigation system, and land for their plantation, they make leadership decisions, execute what they are learning, and implement their creativity while spending fun time and working together as a team.
In addition, school gardens are a good option for the consumption of nutritious products, and sharing the fruits of such gardens with the community contributes to the increase in the health of the population.
Murray High School, in partnership with Garden 31, is currently working on creating a new school garden. The garden is designed to grow a variety of fruits and vegetables. The project requires several months of careful planning and management, but it will eventually bear fruit for the Vista community to enjoy.
If you're interested in getting involved in the new garden project at Murray High School as a parent or community member, please feel free to reach out to the phone number provided below for more information.

Have you tried the new punching bag yet?
The Administration of our community school, Murray High School, is attentive to the needs and tastes of people who are training in the school gym, for this reason, has annexed a punching bag in the gym but, do you know all the benefits of using it?
Experts suggest that hitting a punching bag is a comprehensive aerobic exercise that can enhance your physical strength, speed, coordination, and endurance. Moreover, this exercise is beneficial in developing toned abs, burning calories quickly, and defining muscles.
Boxing is an exceptional activity that can help you achieve complete concentration and mental clarity. With each punch and movement, you can shut out external distractions and forget about your daily stresses, allowing your mind to relax and rejuvenate.
Remember that you will always be welcome to use the gym from Monday to Friday from 7 am to 8 am and on Thursdays from 4 pm to 7 pm, just contact the Community Liaison at (760) 631-2502 extension 89008 or send a message to: MariaValenzuelaqui@vistausd.org.
Sound from Trinidad y Tobago
In the late 1930s, musicians in Trinidad and Tobago began crafting metal drums, using items such as buckets and oil cans. Over time, they fine-tuned the instrument to produce delicate and metallic sounds.
Fifteen years later, they had created a 14-note drum that has become iconic not just in Trinidad and Tobago but throughout the Caribbean.
According to the United Nations, this is the only instrument invented in the 20th century that is now synonymous with an entire region.
At Murray High School, we offer a unique opportunity to learn about and experiment with these Caribbean sounds through a metal drum class.
Led by talented artist Keli Ross-Ma'u, the class is free and open to parents, guardians, and the community of Vista every Thursday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. If you're interested, please don't hesitate to call us today to sign up!
Metal drums were the only instrument invented in the 20th century.
