We held our 4th annual CSAC meeting, which was our best-attended meeting so far to date. We took time to review the progress we’ve made towards reaching our SPSA goals and were pleased to hear so much positive feedback from students, parents, and community members. Immediately following the meeting, all were invited to join us for our Spring Festival and Movie Night and they had the opportunity to visit with vendors during the Resource Fair in the quad.
Students were invited to attend the Future’s Fair at Vista High School, where they could speak directly to employers and learn about potential career opportunities. Students returned with valuable information and have so much more to consider now in terms of their futures.
The entire school was able to participate in the LCAP Forum and provide their feedback on our school to visitors from the district. It was wonderful to hear the students talk about their positive experiences on our campus and give thanks to their teachers for making such a difference in their lives.
We held a Coffee with the Counselor meeting and parents were able to converse over coffee and breakfast burritos and pastries with our counselor, Olga Greenlee; our social worker, Beatriz Barron; our community liaison, Xochitl Tejada-Robles; and our CS site lead, Megan Bishop.
Representatives from Palomar College hosted a presentation on their Apprenticeship Program, which was well-attended by students in the advisory classes. We also took a group of interested students to visit the Palomar Institute of Cosmetology in San Marcos, where they enjoyed learning more about careers in that industry.
We ended the month with a visit to Job Corp where interested students were able to visit the facilities and learn more about the many opportunities available to them after high school.
Our PBIS team continued to meet to develop Tier 2 intervention supports for students and address our school-wide goals for improving attendance, engagement, and motivation, while reinforcing positive behavior. Meanwhile our guidance team continued biweekly discussions with advisory teachers centered around how we can best support our students.

This month has been filled with some truly wonderful moments here at Alta Vista, and we couldn’t wait to share them with you!
First up, a huge thank you to the Sallie A. Hunt Foundation for their incredibly generous donation of 33 pairs of hiking shoes for our students! Thanks to their kindness, our students are now ready for their next adventure with the perfect shoes. The smiles on their faces when they received them were absolutely priceless!
We also hosted a fantastic Coffee with the Counselor event, where parents had the chance to meet with our amazing counselor, Mrs. Greenlee, to discuss their students' transcripts. It was a great opportunity for parents to learn about their child's progress, get tips on how to support them, and find ways to help them stay motivated as they head toward graduation. A big thank you to Mrs. Greenlee for organizing such an informative and fun event!
We’re so lucky to have such wonderful supporters and an amazing team here at Alta Vista. Thanks for being part of these exciting moments with us!
