Students may receive an email with a records/name check notification. You can view the exact message down below* and find the steps that students are told to take to find this in eWOLF. Many will have to search “all cards” to find this card called “SSN validation.” Remember, this goes to all students, and is only to help them verify their information, particularly before tax forms are generated in January. If their name and SSN are correct, there is nothing for them to do. We only want a PICR if something is incorrect or not up to date.
2 other key things:
If a student was in a CO Online section within the past year, they may get this notification from the college where their teaching section was too…CCCS is looking into if they can prevent this in the future, but the students should only worry about making updates with their own college if needed.
Some will receive an error message within the “SSN validation” card due to browser settings. The card itself has directions to follow in order to make it work, so students just need to follow that. The second image shows what students will see after following the link.
As you can see, they just need to click on the provided link to work through the proper steps. Just so you have it, or in case you’re curious, here is the direct link: https://experience.elluciancloud.com/cccs/page/chrome_142_fix
Email to students:
*Dear xxxx,
We are required by IRS regulations to annually make sure we have your correct name and social security number if you have one on file. To help us, please follow these steps:
Please login to your eWOLF student portal and search for the Social Security Number Validation card.
Review the information that we have on file for you.
If you have an issue with your SSN and/or NAME, contact the FRCC student records office: AskRegistrar@frontrange.edu
We understand phishing concerns. Therefore, we have not added a link to this email. You will NOT be asked for your social security number, rather, you will be asked to VERIFY the information we already have on file.
Thank you,
Front Range Community College
