Definition/explanation
A Guest student is someone who plans to attend for one semester only. We consider them as non-degree seeking and therefore, they are not eligible for FA; they also do not have an assigned Academic Advisor. The student will be active for the semester they applied, and inactive for the next semester. They are unable to attend as a guest for consecutive semesters but can come back as a guest again for example Summer 2024 and again in Summer 2025. This is not however a way we identify students who will be here for two back-to-back semesters.
Eligibility
Any student can apply saying they will attend FRCC for one-semester only, which means we set them as a Guest student type, or be changed to a Guest per conversing with any Admissions representative.
Clarifying questions to ask
If the student is currently in a “non” guest student type and if they want to instead continue on in additional semesters?
Was the Student hoping to use Financial Aid or Veteran Educational benefits for their classes?
Does the student plan on earning a degree or certificate at FRCC?
Is the student already pursuing a degree at another college?

Tips/talking points
Make sure the student has consulted with their Academic Advisor if they want to be changed to a Guest Student or away from a Guest Student, about the effects of their choice.
