Definition/explanation
Graduation-Students submit a graduation application in their final semester for each degree/certificate they are completing. There are deadlines to submit a graduation application each semester.
Commencement- Students wishing to attend the optional annual Commencement ceremony (held each May) need to reserve their seat by submitting an RSVP. Diplomas are not given out at the ceremony, they are mailed.
Eligibility
Once the Graduation team receives a graduation application, the student will be sent a confirmation email to their FRCC account. Awards are posted about 4 weeks after the end of each semester, and diplomas mailed 6-8 weeks after the end of each semester.
After students receive their diploma in the mail, they may come to any of the Wolf Central locations to pick up a diploma cover. Each student is able to receive one (1) diploma cover. If students attend Commencement, they receive their diploma cover at Commencement.
Clarifying questions to ask
Student: “I didn’t receive my diploma.” or “when will I receive my diploma?”
(the answer to this can usually be found by checking Banner) -
Look at SPACMNT (in Banner) – when diplomas are mailed, there is a note in SPACMNT indicating the date mailed. If the diploma is returned (usually due to address provided….ie. student may have moved after giving us the address to mail the diploma to), there is a notation in SPACMNT.
If there are no notes in SPACMNT – remember that the diplomas are not mailed until 6-8 weeks after the end of the semester.
If there are no notes in SPACMNT – we either have not yet processed the graduation application, it may have been disapproved, or the student may not have completed a graduation application.

Timeline for processing
Depending on the time of year, students should receive their graduation application confirmation email 2-4 weeks after submitting the application.
