CHICKEN PETTIS
Enjoy your delicious chicken puff pettis!
Ingredients
For the Filling:
1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon ginger, minced
1/2 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, etc.)
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped
1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the Puff Pastry:
1 package (about 400g) puff pastry (thawed)
1 egg (for egg wash)
Flour, for dusting
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
Stir in the minced garlic and ginger; cook for another minute.
Add the mixed vegetables and cook for about 3-4 minutes until tender.
Mix in the shredded chicken, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, and pepper.
Cook for another 2-3 minutes, ensuring everything is well combined.
Remove from heat, stir in the chopped coriander and lemon juice, and let the mixture cool.
Step 2: Prepare the Puff Pastry
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8-inch thickness.
Cut the pastry into circles using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass (about 4 inches in diameter).
Step 3: Assemble the Pettis
Place a tablespoon of the chicken filling in the center of each pastry circle.
Fold the pastry over to form a half-moon shape. Press the edges to seal, and crimp with a fork for a decorative finish.
Place the filled puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 4: Bake
Beat the egg and brush the tops of the puffs with the egg wash for a golden finish.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
Step 5: Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
