WALDORF SALAD
This classic Waldorf Salad is refreshing, crunchy, and filled with a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. Perfect for a light lunch, appetizer, or side dish!
Ingredients:
2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Red Delicious), cored and diced
1 cup seedless grapes, halved
1/2 cup celery, thinly sliced
1/2 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped
1/4 cup raisins (optional)
1/2 cup mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
1 tbsp lemon juice
Salt and pepper, to taste
Lettuce leaves (optional, for serving)
Method:
Prepare the Apples:
Dice the apples into small bite-sized pieces. If you prefer, you can peel the apples, but leaving the skin on adds color and texture.
Toss the diced apples in a bowl with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Prepare the Other Ingredients:
Slice the grapes in half.
Thinly slice the celery.
Toast the walnuts in a dry skillet for a few minutes until they are fragrant, then chop them coarsely.
Mix the Salad:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, sliced grapes, celery, walnuts, and raisins (if using).
Add the Dressing:
In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt) with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Add the dressing to the apple mixture and toss everything gently to combine. Adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed.
Chill the Salad:
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the salad for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
Serve:
You can serve the Waldorf Salad on its own or spoon it onto a bed of lettuce leaves for presentation.
Optional:
For extra crunch, you can add a handful of chopped pecans or almonds.
Add a handful of pomegranate seeds for a burst of sweetness and color.
This classic Waldorf Salad is refreshing, crunchy, and filled with a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. Perfect for a light lunch, appetizer, or side dish!
