Mississippi Mud pie is a three-layered chocolate-lover's delight. Layers of crumbly cookie crust, goeey chocolate center, and rich sauce on top make this pie irresistible
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
1½ cups (150g) Oreo cookie crumbs (about 20 Oreo cookies)
¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
For the Filling:
1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup (115g) unsalted butter
1½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
¼ cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ tsp salt
For the Topping:
1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (optional, for garnish)
1. Prepare the Crust:
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Crush the Oreos: In a food processor, pulse the Oreo cookies until they form fine crumbs. Alternatively, you can place the cookies in a sealed plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
Mix the crust: Combine the Oreo crumbs with melted butter and mix until the crumbs are evenly coated.
Press into the pie dish: Press the crumb mixture evenly into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie dish to form a firm crust.
Bake the crust: Bake the crust for 8-10 minutes, then set aside to cool.
2. Prepare the Chocolate Filling:
Melt chocolate and butter: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, chocolate chips, and butter. Stir continuously until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
Whisk the eggs and sugar: In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
Combine the mixtures: Gradually whisk the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until fully combined and smooth.
Pour into the crust: Pour the chocolate filling into the baked crust.
3. Bake the Pie:
Bake: Place the pie in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly gooey in the center.
Cool completely: Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the filling to fully set.
4. Prepare the Whipped Cream Topping:
Whip the cream: In a medium bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until soft peaks form.
Top the pie: Spread or pipe the whipped cream over the chilled pie.
5. Garnish and Serve:
Garnish: For an extra touch, sprinkle chocolate shavings or sift cocoa powder over the whipped cream.
Serve: Slice and enjoy this rich, decadent pie!
Gooey center: The pie should have a soft, slightly gooey center after baking. If you prefer a firmer pie, bake for an additional 5 minutes.
Chill time: Make sure to allow enough time for the pie to chill properly for best results.
Mississippi Mud Pie is the ultimate indulgence for chocolate lovers, with its layers of crunchy cookie crust, rich, gooey chocolate filling, and a light, airy whipped cream topping. Each bite is a deliciously decadent experience!
