Dr. Lis Heininger Memorial

Education Grant Award

2016

Awarded to Mrs. Jean F. Galbreath, President of the Harford County Lyme Disease Support Group, Inc.

Dr. Lis Heininger was the Chair of the Lyme Disease Association Corning-Fingerlakes Area Chapter for a decade. All of that time, she was seriously disabled from Lyme, the last few years almost completely disabled.

A true educator, she never allowed not being able to walk, or move, or not being able to talk very loudly or talk at all interfere with her drive to educate and warn the world about Lyme. She continued to schedule and to present PowerPoints throughout the community, and when she could not perform all the functions necessary herself she enlisted the help of others.

The grant is awarded to an individual advocate or an organization that has little to no funds to operate and may face adverse personal conditions yet continues to work for the Lyme cause, thus embodying the spirit of the work on tick-borne diseases done by Dr. Heininger.
