John 1:3-5
All Things Were Made Through Jesus
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
1 John 1:5-7
Walking in the Light
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
John 3:19-21
Light Has Come into Our World
19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
St. John wrote that Jesus was life, and that life was the light of all mankind...The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it...This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you as Disciples: God is Light; in Him there is no darkness at all...If we claim to have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the Truth...But if we walk in the Light, as He is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin...So this is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil...Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed...But whoever lives by the Truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God...
William Lane Craig says this about the Light and the darkness, “Therefore, when a person refuses to come to Christ it is never just because of a lack of evidence or because of intellectual difficulties: at root, he refuses to come because he willingly ignores and rejects the drawing of God's Spirit on his heart...No one in the final analysis fails to become a Christian because of a lack of arguments; he fails to become a Christian because he loves darkness rather than light and wants nothing to do with God.”...
