Romans 5:5-11
Jesus Died for Us
5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
John 3:16-17
God So LOVES the World
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
When Paul said that the Messiah died at just the right time and for the ungodly it is a show of God's LOVE and an unlikely LOVE because while we are still sinners...God sent His Son to die for us sinners (who are still living)...Very rare will anyone die for a righteous man or woman, but Jesus died for sinners...And so His Son would die on the cross for living and future living sinners...And in sinning we show a great disobedience to our Father, but His Son would die for us anyway on the cross -which shows His Great LOVE for the world and for each of us...
And like St. Paul, St. John also writes about this Great LOVE...For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life...For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn sinners, but to save these living sinners through Him...
