John 4:24
God is Spirit
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 6:63
The Flesh Counts for Nothing
63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
John 8:18-24
Jesus is Not of this World
18 I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”
19 Then they asked him, “Where is your father?”
“You do not know me or my Father,” Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”20 He spoke these words while teaching in the temple area near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his time had not yet come.
21 Once more Jesus said to them, “I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.”
22 This made the Jews ask, “Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, ‘Where I go, you cannot come’?”
23 But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins.”
John 3:12-13
Jesus is From Heaven
12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.
Jesus 3:31-36
Jesus is From Above
31 “The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. 33 The man who has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. 34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.”
John 14:1-3
Jesus Talks of Going Back to Heaven
1 You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
John 17:13-19
Jesus is Not of This World
13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
Matthew 10:28
Fear the One Who Can Kill the Soul
28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 28:18
Jesus Has Authority on Earth and in Heaven
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Jesus teaches us about two different worlds and two distinct places...There is a heaven, and there is an earth (which we live)...The Spiritual World is from above, and the earth as He refers to it, is from below...The earth is a physical world...
Jesus came from the world above...He came from heaven...He is from the Spiritual World...And although He speaks regularly about heaven, we really no very little about it...And what we learn about heaven is not in much detail and hard, at least for me to put together, because He is from heaven, and it is mostly piecemeal...He does not come out and give us a detailed description of what heaven or what His kingdom is...When He does describe heaven, He often uses the term, the kingdom of God is like (this)...Then we must use our imaginations and knowledge of the Bible to fill in and connect the dots and reflect on what (we think) heaven is like...But we know that the Spirit of God and His Son are there...So we know heaven is holy, spiritual, and sacred...This Spiritual World that Jesus talks about is very much a mysterious world...But nonetheless, it is there, if you are a believer and follower of His, because of all the different references He makes about this different world is where He is from...
Jesus makes it very clear throughout the gospels that He is not of or from this world...He is not from the earth...He is from this other world...He is from heaven...We also learn He has been given all authority on not only earth, but also in heaven...And as Jesus talks, we learn that the Spiritual world and earth are two distinct places...And there is a great difference in heaven and earth (and that would be putting it very lightly)...And there is a chasm between the two worlds...We just cannot go from this physical world to the spiritual world...No Jesus seems to be able to and often in the gospels slips in and our of these two worlds...
Heaven is separate from the earth, and is distinctly different from earth...The Spiritual World of God and Jesus are distinctly different from our world, which is on earth and is of skin, bone, and flesh...In heaven, the flesh counts for nothing...The Spirit is everything...Flesh is not life, the Spirit is life...The Spirit actually gives us life...The words that Jesus spoke and speaks to us are Spirit and they are life itself and more important than our bodies of flesh...There is no reason to fear one or things that can kill only the body...We should fear the One that can destroy both our soul and our body...Our Spirits and our souls are the most important things...These are eternal things, and are eternal parts of our bodies...Body parts that we often do not give much thought about or to...But Jesus certainly gives them most of His attention, as He teaches us...
Heaven is this kingdom with Him and His Father in it...Heaven is the place where our Holy Spirit will meet Jesus and His Father...It is the place to be, the place we want to go...It is a place somehow not visible or attainable to reach with our latest science and technology...And we can get there only after our death...It maybe a dimension in eternity, that is different than time, and time as we know and live in...But it is there, because Jesus tells us often about He is from this unique and grand place...
When He talks to His Disciples about going back to heaven, He tells them it is a very large place, it has many mansions, and many rooms...It can hold many, many people...There is room enough for all of us...And He will return to come back and take us there...Jesus is our road map to get there...Heaven is God's space and God's place...It is where He lives...It is His Kingdom...Spirits live there...And for those who have loved and sought God and believed (in Him and His Son), we will get to spend an eternity there with Them Both in this Paradise...Heaven is where Pure Love and Pure Light reside...Truth lives there...We will get the answers to all our questions when we get there -in this most beautiful of all places...In this Paradise resides our very purpose of living and of life...
