John 14:6-7
Divine Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 1:14
The Word Became Flesh
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 3:10-15
Heaven
10 "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things? 11 I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
John 8:31-33
The Word Will Set Us Free
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”
John 8:12-20
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
13 The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.”
14 Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. 17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. 18 I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”
19 Then they asked him, “Where is your father?”
“You do not know me or my Father,” Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” 20 He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.
Two thousand years ago a Man, if it is fair to call Him a Man, stood up and said He is Truth...This is hard to understand...How can a Person be Truth?...St. John writes much about Jesus and truth...When we really get to know Jesus we will get also to know His Father...Both are Truth, the Truth...God is our Absolute Truth...
Jesus is Divine...Jesus is Truth...I think that Divine Truth is different from the truth we talk about on earth...At least we seem to want to separate truth from Divine Truth...Christians believe Jesus is Divine...Since He is Divine, He is different...He is from above...Jesus when He is teaching Nicodemus, He explains to Him about heavenly things...I think He means when we speak of things, we must have data on it...We must know something about it...We must have knowledge of it...Only He can speak of heaven, because only He is familiar with heaven...He is the Only One who has been in heaven and also has come to earth...Jesus is from another world...God is from another world...This makes the Father and Son much, much different from us...I believe that Jesus has Divine blood and has a unique DNA (I think this is maybe a reason He came when He did, because the scientists in us would want to examine things like this (His DNA) and miss why He came to earth for)...Can man speak of heavenly things when we as man, have never been there?...Can we really speak of Jesus and God in any detail, because they are from above?...We know little of heaven and Jesus and God, and lack knowledge on these things...We are very limited...
If Jesus is who He says He is, then He is our Way in Life, our Truth in Life, and Life itself...So if He is telling us the truth, then He is both Truth and Divine Truth...Yet, when we think of truth on earth, we think of two plus two equaling four...Truth, as most of us see it, is a certainty and definitive...But when we think of Jesus and we read of grace and truth becoming flesh, the words certainty, and definitive, become less certain and less definitive...How can grace and truth become actual flesh...But believers know He stood up two thousand years ago, and told us He is Truth...Jesus certainly existed and came to earth, so we should see Him as a certainty, and definitive...It seems it easier to add a new compartment and call it Divine Truth...We and others then can say that Divine Truth, is something less certain and definitive...We can further gray the words Divine Truth with faith...We can say Divine Truth is clouded and we need to believe in Jesus to believe that He is Divine Truth, let alone our real earthly truth and truths in which we believe...
Truth is defined as the quality or state of being true...The Truth is true according with both fact and reality...Truth is a fact that can be verified...The Truth of the four gospels, are the Gospel Truth...The reality of Jesus and His life was a fact in history...The words He spoke and what He did is Truth...In Jesus' time it took two witnesses to verify the Truth...He states that He is One of the Witnesses about His Word and in this case being the Light of this world...He tells us the other witness is His Father, who is God...If we believe that Jesus tells us the Truth, then He is the Son of the Blessed One, then His Father is the Second Witness and that makes Him saying He is Truth, the Truth...
Jesus was the Perfect Man...He is the three things He says He is...He is the Way...He is Life, but He is also Truth...And there is a Way to live your life...It is called the Jesus Way...He is both Divine Truth and Earthly Truth...Jesus gave us many words to study, and truth surrounds all of them and Him...He says that those who hold to His teachings and His words -they we will know the truth, and that truth will set us free...He is the Word, and the Word became flesh full of grace and truth...He is both certain and definitive...
