The Greatest Commandments
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Can we have lead a dignified life without having a Creator?...One who made us in His Image...Who had this plan to give us His One and Only Son to mankind, to save each one of us from our sins...God did not send Jesus to earth to condemn us for sinning...He sent His Son to save us, and whoever believes in Him will be saved and have eternal life...St. Paul says this is the Great Demonstration of Love, to give an Only Child, a Son to die for others...Jesus agrees with St. Paul on the story of Love...There is no greater love than to die for His friends...Jesus teaches us that this Love for His Father and Love for our neighbors are paramount for a dignified and purposeful life...These are the main points of God's Plan for believers...Love is the most personal and intimate thing on earth...
There are non-believers who think we came from a large and vast blast from the past...Scientists call it the Big Bang Theory...It is a theory that does not give man or man's life love, faith, or hope...There is no dignity or purpose coming from a cosmic loud explosion and having each of us evolving from a primitive chemical soup...If we are but an impersonal evolved reptile, with a reptilian brain, how are we moral and dignified by a life of any kind...Man then gets to decide what is good and what is evil...There is no Absolute Moral Good, or Absolute Moral Truth...
God and His Love for this world give's us a purpose...There are some non-believers who believe man has made up God to prevent us (and help us) from fearing death, and fearing the afterlife...Well, personally, I believe in God and I still fear death and the afterlife...God made us in His Image to live on earth and to love Him and our neighbors...His Son, makes these things especially clear...If there is no God then one's goodness means no more than the one who treats everybody and everything evil...Without God faith, hope, and love are completely meaningless both in life and after our death...They are transient words, and feelings just blowing in the wind and they have no meaning because we are here only by an impersonal accident...
