John 1:1-14
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
1 John 3:1-10
God Shows Us His LOVE
1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.
Luke 13:34
Jesus Wants to Gather Us Like Little Chicks
34 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.
John 3:16
God LOVES Us
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
I sometimes wonder why Jesus came to earth and lived among us...God can do anything...He could have showed us things from afar, if He wanted to...He could have put anything in our minds to believe in Him, if He wanted to...He could have given us a sign or miracles to get an idea or reason or something across...But He chose to become flesh and take on a physical body, and come to earth and be near us...He wanted us to show us some things...And He wanted to show us these things as a Man...
If one believes that we are lost, then it is good to have God near...If you believe you are a child of God, it is good to have our Father near us, in the physical flesh...For Jesus to come and dwell with us, shows us that the physical body does matter...God wanted us to see His Son in the flesh...And the ones that Jesus visited were those in need...Those who needed His help...Those who were outcast and on the fringe of society...Those who were sinners, and needed forgiveness...Those who were in bad health and needed healed...God has this great LOVE for those who need help and cannot help themselves...God wants to help...He wants to help us...This to me is shown by those crowds who followed and searched Him out...
Jesus came to earth because God LOVES us...Jesus came because He wanted to show us the goodness in God...He wanted to show us our potential...We can look and study Jesus and what He did, and see the potential for mankind...
We are and can be called children of God...We are His children...A Father who actually came down to earth, who has longed to gather us up His children together to LOVE and to take care of us...And this is part of the reason why He sent His Son Jesus to earth to live and teach among us...He LOVES us...
