John 3:1-8
Jesus Teaches Us About Being Born Again
1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."
3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
4 "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"
5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
John 4:24
God is Spirit
24 God is spirit. So the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
Galatians 5:13-26
Living Life by the Spirit
13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
As Nicodemus found out, we need the Spirit to be reborn...There is flesh and there is Spirit...Being of human flesh we sin and fall short of the Glory of God...Our sinful human and fleshy nature, makes it impossible to be reborn in Spirit...So we need help from the Spirit...And we know that God is Spirit, and we must worship Him in Spirit and Truth...So our Father gives us help...He helps us being reborn with His Son, who died for our sins...And He helps us being reborn with His Holy Spirit, which He indwells in us...
When we are reborn with this help from Jesus and the Holy Spirit, our faith grows, and God grows and we better see His Eternal and Infinite Ways...He keeps getting bigger and bigger...And as our faith grows, our Spiritual Life grows through Jesus and the Holy Spirit...And when our faith grows, we are able to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit...And when we live by the Spirit, we keep in step with the Spirit...And we do not become conceited, provoking and envying each other...We are humbled, and we remain loving and forgiving of each other...
