Genesis 2:16-17
Death Came from Our Disobedience with God
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
Romans 6:23
The Wages of Sin is Death
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 3:16-17
Jesus is the Gift and Savior of Eternal Life
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
God told Adam that he was free to eat from any tree in the Garden of Eden, but the he could not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for if he would eat from that specific tree he would certainly die...So God told Adam from the very beginning that eating from the Tree of Knowledge would cause him to die...So when Eve and Adam ate from this tree, they committed a sin...They were disobedient to God...And this disobedience, this sin causes death...And Paul wrote these words years later in a letter to the Romans saying that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord...
So we all die because of our sinful nature and the sins we commit in life...
But God so LOVES the world and each one of us, that He would give His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish and die but have eternal life...This is because God did not send His Son, Jesus into the world to condemn the world and us, but to save the world through His death on the cross...
