Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
John 3:16-17
God LOVES the World
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
When Jesus was asked what is the Greatest Commandment, He gave us two commandments, instead of just one...Love God and love neighbor sum up how Jesus answered the question, what is the Greatest Commandment...I wonder by coming out and giving us two commandments instead of one, this is because Jesus wants us very much to love God, while also realizing that if we can grow to love all our neighbors as God has LOVED us, the the world is more sacred and Holy place...
