Mark 14:60-62
Jesus Tells Us He is the Son of the Blessed One
60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?"
62 "I am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."
The gospels and New Testament teach us that Jesus is eternal life, and He is the One who gives us eternal life...Who would say this about themselves -that they can give us eternal life, life after death...Who do you know that would say this to you, and what would you think of them after they said this?...And Jesus did not say that eternal and everlasting life was this or that, but He says that He is everlasting and eternal life...
Jesus said these things about Himself giving us eternal life...My Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and that He will raise His believer's up on the last day...Very truly He told us, the one who believes in Him has eternal life...When Jesus told people He was the Good Shepherd and was ready to lay down His life for us some people did not believe Him or in Him...Jesus said, “I did tell you, but you do not believe...The works I do in My Father’s name testify about Me, but you do not believe because you are not My sheep...My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow Me...I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand...My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand...I and the Father are One.”...Then Jesus told Mary, sister of Lazarus, that He is the Resurrection and the Life...The ones who believe in Him will live, even though they will physically die; and whoever lives by believing in Him will never die...And then He said this about Eternal Life..."Now this is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent."...
So as we read these statements, Jesus is claiming that eternal life comes from Him...Jesus is claiming to be able to give us everlasting life...He claims that He personally can give us eternal life...
Jesus said things no other man has ever said...With all His statements about Him giving us eternal life, Jesus did not give His followers any other option, but to believe that we can get eternal life by believing in Him...Eternal life makes us come to grips with who Jesus really is and do we believe in Him...And earthly life over time has a way of telling us that our youthful years have moved on...The tent of our body shows graying, wrinkles, less energy, some forgetfulness, and a little less quickness...How quickly life goes by in a blink...But only Jesus claims to give us life beyond this life...He tells us repeatedly that He is and has the power to give us eternal life...
Do you think a sane man would says these things about eternal life?...So who do you think He is?...What to me is astonishing about Jesus' Incredible Words on eternal life and giving us eternal life, is that they are humbling and intelligently and authoritatively spoken...They are not said in an arrogant way...And most importantly His Words and claims are believable...So to me, He must be a Divine Man, and the Son of God, the Son of the Blessed One...
