Genesis 1:27
Created in God's Image
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
John 1:1-14
Jesus Became a Man and Came and Dwelt on the Earth
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 3:16-17
God So LOVES the World
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
God created mankind in His Own Image...And this is very important to be made in His Image...Since God is LOVE, and we are made in His Image, we must know that love is a part of our lives, and help us live a more abundant life...It means that there is purpose and meaning to our lives...There is a great value to life, when one believes that we are made in the Image of God...So man was and is created by God and in His Image...And God created all human life and gave it much value and much LOVE...So much LOVE He has for us, that He sent His Son to die for us on the cross...God is not far from any of us...God is with us, with the Holy Spirit...So, if one believes these things, we see the importance of human life and life itself...God makes life important and each of our lives important...He would not make something unimportant in His Image...That just would not make sense...
God started with the first man and the first woman,...First Adam and then Eve in the beginning...And every man and woman today, including you and me, we are created (still) in His Own Image... And so was Jesus, when He came and dwelt the earth...Jesus became a Man...So, Jesus too was created in the Image of God...And Jesus is the Son of God...How great it is to have that comparison when we think of God and His Son -that in some way we can be compared to Jesus...Jesus was like us in some and maybe many ways...Now Jesus is a little bit different in that He can do miracles and is Divine, but He was a Man who became flesh and came and dwelt with us...
Being made and created by God and in His Image, God can give us a joy that no other can give...We are created by God and in His Image and for Him...St. Augustine wrote, we are restless, until we rest with Him...Jesus shows us that mankind has this great potential...A potential for more good, and to be better than we currently are, much better...In the teachings of Jesus, we learn about the eternities...Jesus teaches the eternities...He teaches of God, heaven, and the Kingdom of God...This world cannot give us any permanent satisfaction, thus we all have some desire for the eternal and an eternal life...We desire some things on earth and we tend to desire something else...We seem never to be quite satisfied with the earthly things, after we get them...We remain restless in our desires...It often seems we are looking for the next thing, the next something...We are restless as St. Augustine says, and what we are looking for is the Spiritual...Jesus was not this way...He was not looking for the next material thing or any material thing...Jesus who was so close to God, was at peace, fully alive, and lived an abundant life because of His closeness to God...Jesus was and is fully with God, in Spirit, mind, body, heart, and soul...
