Matthew 1:23
God With Us
23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
John 16:5-16
The Work of the Holy Spirit
5"Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' 6Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. 7But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; 10in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
12"I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.
16"In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me."
When Jesus was born, He was called Immanuel, which means God with us...Jesus teaches us after He left the earth, He would send the Counselor, the Holy Spirit to His Disciples...God is with us and the Holy Spirit is in us...
Everyone around the world has a Holy Spirit...Almost everyone around the entire world feel (somehow) a Divine Source, an Infinite One...From the earliest of times, from the beginning, man has thought there were gods or One God...It seems most men can somehow sense there is something Divine, but cannot quite put his finger on it...And believers in the Divine One has a hard time explaining it to a way, to those few who do not believe in the Divine One...
It also seems, since the earliest of times there were sacrifices made to these gods and to God, and somehow this was the right, and cultural thing to do...Sacrifice came into being, and it became a way of trying to contract, please, or communicate with the Divine, or other gods...Sacrifice became a way and part of life thousands of years ago...Man was making sacrifices to their various god and gods...Solomon had made an edict when he built the Temple for God, that sacrifices were to be made in the Holy Temple...Once the Holy Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 a.d., the Israelis stopped making sacrifices in the Temple, because it no longer existed...
In a great irony of the ancient sacrifices the One who created all things makes a sacrifice...In the midst of all the gods and sacrifices around our LORD, He Himself made a sacrifice...He sacrificed a family member, His Only Son to save us...God, a Father, would make the ultimate sacrifice for us...And after this sacrifice is made, it seems that the sacrificial need and desire to communicate with other gods, and God dwindle...The sacrifice ritual seems to slow down, after the Temple is destroyed...But also, Jesus has been sacrificed on the cross for each of our sins...That is because Jesus is divine and there is no more need for sacrifices...Jesus is the Temple...He tells us that the Holy Temple will be destroyed, and He would raise it again in three days (John 2:19)...His body on the cross was raised three days after it was put to death...His Body is our Temple...St. Paul adds that our body is the Temple to the Holy Spirit, whom you have received from God (1 Corinthians 6:19)...
It seems that most people, as stated earlier, have this thought implanted in his body (n his Temple) that something, somewhere -there is Divine Source...There is this inner sense, which is the Holy Spirit...We can block the Holy Spirit with idols of different sorts, and material wealth, and with sin, but He is there in us...Our thoughts, our hearts, and our minds get littered with sins of the flesh and sins of the earth and we lose contact and seem to drift from God...Our love for God, moves toward loves of earth and our pleasures and desires...
But God is full of grace...God is Love...We are made in His Image...He is the full of mercy...He has an eternal forgiveness in Him...One who is Perfectly gracious, Perfectly Loving, Perfectly merciful, and is Perfectly forgiving has planted this Holy Spirit in us...This Spirit in us, is full of love...This gives us that feeling there is something out there...Most people who believe in a Divine Source, I would suspect -believe that the love from and around the Divine One -is one of the reasons for their belief in Him...This is because God and His attributes are all centered around love...
Love is eternal...Love has no end...Love like the Word of God, will last forever...It seems man cannot reach his potential on earth...Earthly things get in our way...We must get back to the Garden of Eden, back to heaven...Then we can reach our potential and be complete...Complete Love will make everything complete...
