Luke 12:49-53
49 “I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! 51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”
John 15:18-25
18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’
Jesus came to teach us about God and love...And He doesn't just want a part of us...He wants all of us...And one would think this would bring about a great unity in the world...But Jesus knew that He and His followers would cause a disharmony in the world...Jesus even tells us that many would hate His Disciples...Because He is from heaven, God is first and everything on earth must be put aside and sacrificed for Him and His Father...This type of talk and belief brings a natural division...Who wants to sacrifice what they have to Someone?...
Because God is God and He sent His Son from Heaven, I would expect Them to teach us some things so different that they would appear to be from Another World...These words still ring loudly today...How can we give up all we have and give to the Ones from Another World?...Love makes us vulnerable on earth...His LOVE brings about another type of vulnerability...Tell your family, your son, your father, your mother, your daughter, your mother-in-law, or daughter-in-law you are going to take up the cross and give your entire life to Him, as well as everything you have...
Jesus brings us unity, yet this division...
