John 16:25-33
There is a Place to Find Peace
25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”
29 Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30 Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”
31 “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Jesus tells us that there will be troubles in this world...Jesus suffered for every man, when He died on the cross...Jesus suffered so that we might be atoned for our sins...
Suffering is a part of this world...Suffering seems to be a part of the human condition...Sometime is everyone's life, they will suffer...The cross is the symbol for our suffering life and for our Master and Teacher...The cross is our Symbol, a Symbol of Jesus...And if you have not suffered in grief, or illness, or pain in your life it will come...Suffering is a part of the human experience...And when Jesus was stripped, tortured, and broken, and dying on the cross, He kept His thoughts on His Father in heaven...On the cross He died and atoned for our sins...His death atoned for our original sins and all the other sins we have done against God...Jesus never ever gave up on the Grace of God...Jesus always did the will of God...
Although Jesus said we would have troubles in this world, the night before His arrest and having to go to His cross, He said that He has told us many things about His Father and that He would return to His Father after His suffering and death...And believing in and having faith in Him and His Father, we will find peace...We can take heart, because He has overcome this world...
