Luke 10:17-24
Jesus' Disciples Return With Joy
17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
22 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
23 Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”
John 15:9-17
Jesus Gives His Disciples Joy
9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.
Jesus had a joy about Him...As one reads the four gospels they can almost feel the joy of His Disciples and is apostles and those that followed Him...He is the Most Positive Force and this Joy shows through, all through the four gospels...
When Jesus sent out His seventy two Disciples to teach others about Him and God, when they returned, they returned with Joy...The seventy-two returned with Joy and said to Him, “LORD, even the demons submit to us in Your Name.”...Jesus gave His followers this hopeful confidence, which was a Joy...A Joy to be with Him and around Him...
Jesus told His Twelve Disciples, "If you keep My commands, you will remain in My LOVE, just as I have kept My Father’s commands and remain in His LOVE...I have told you this so that My Joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. "...
This Joy continued after His death and in the Acts of the Apostles and we can see this Hope and Joy in the epistles that were written...As we read the four gospels and other New Testament Books and read about His followers, I wonder if today, that we might have lost a little of that Joy...
We must remember that Jesus is the True Source of Joy...
