John 8:12-20
Jesus is the Light of this World
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
13 The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.”
14 Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. 17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. 18 I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”
19 Then they asked him, “Where is your father?”
“You do not know me or my Father,” Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” 20 He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.
John 16:25-33
In This World We Will Have Troubles
25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”
29 Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30 Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”
31 “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
It is written that we will have troubles in this life, as we can currently account to as a pandemic crosses the globe...The troubles are all around us...The news of this coronavirus and death cover the papers, the internet, the radio, and many, many things...And this negative news seems everywhere we go...Seeing people in masks and in gloves is unsettling to me...
We are currently in a time of intense darkness, as the newspapers, and news people and the shops we go to are a constant reminder of these dark times...We need to look for that Ray of Light...There is One who called Himself the Light...The Light can be found if you seek Him...The darkness tried to overcome the Light, but it cannot and could not...And although He died, He lived again...This Ray of Light is our Hope...There is Great Hope in this Light, because He overcame this world and death and ascended to heaven...
A Ray of Light on earth, is hope for the entire world...
