John 16:33
In This World You Will Have Trouble
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Matthew 11:28-30
Come To Jesus When We Are Wearied and Burdened
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Now thank we all our God,
with heart and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things has done,
in Whom this world rejoices;
Who from our mothers’ arms
has blessed us on our way
With countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today...
O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us;
And keep us in His grace,
and guide us when perplexed;
And free us from all ills,
in this world and the next!..
All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given;
The Son and Him Who reigns
with Them in highest Heaven;
The one eternal God,
whom earth and Heaven adore;
For thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore...
There are troubles right now in this world...And the above text are interesting words in times of troubles, yet these words was written by Protestant minister Martin Rinkart in 1636...The thirty year war was going on and also in 1636 was the time of a plague in his country...And Minister Rinkart presided over four thousand funerals that year, and one was his wife...And when he writes that God guide us when perplexed and to keep us in His Grace, and to free us from all ills in this world and the next, the minister's words are heartfelt in one's own times troubles...
Minister Rinkart certainty must have read the words of Jesus that tell us that in this world we will have troubles...Let us be guided by the comfort we can find in our times of troubles, and be comforted by the One who tells us to come to Him, all you who are weary and burdened...For He will give us rest...Take His yoke upon ourselves and we can learn from Him...For He is gentle and humble in heart, and He is the One who will find rest for our souls...
