Matthew 28:16-20
The Great Commission
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
John 16:33
Troubles in this World
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
When C. S. Lewis wrote, “Jesus Christ did not say, ‘Go into all the world and tell the world that it is quite right.’”, I think of the Great Commission when He sent His Disciples into the world...He did not tell them to tell others that the world we live in is fine and dandy...No, it is a troubled world, and He told His Disciples they would have troubles in this world...So, when He sent His Disciples out after He left our world, He told them to them about His gospel, and His Father...He said go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you...Surely I AM with you always, to the very end of the age...Because He has overcome this world...
