John 16:33
Troubles in this World
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Matthew 26:36-46
Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”
43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!
Sometimes troubles in our lives affect our faith...Sometimes our troubles weakens our faith...But Jesus tells us in this world we will have troubles...And we do...Each of our troubles may be a little different and have a different flavor but each of us will face troubles in the difficulties that life presents us...
Jesus was always helping those in trouble and who had difficulties as He walked the earth...Those being helped by Jesus, got to know Him a little bit better...They could see what He could do...Those in their difficulties were being helped by the very One God had sent to earth...So when we look at our difficulties let us see that there are chances in these difficulties to build our faith...My biggest problem is why did God and Jesus allow this trouble to happen, when They could have prevented it...But it is God's Plan, and His Plan turns out to be our journey through lives...It helps if we believe in God and His Son, and we follow them and their foundation...
Jesus faced His own difficulties and we see Him pray at varying times about His troubles in the Garden of Gethsemane...In the garden, Jesus is anxious...Jesus, as human as one can be, asks God to take His upcoming suffering away from Him...Then He realizes that God will be there for Him in his most crucial moment on the cross...God will see Him through His difficulties...Jesus' faith in God allows Him to face His most difficult challenge on earth...
