John 16:25-33
Jesus' Peace
25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”
29 Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30 Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”
31 “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Jesus tells His Disciples that soon He would be leaving earth and going back to His Father in Heaven...So difficult to lose our Master and Friend on earth, but He would not leave us as orphans on earth...He tells us about a Peace He will leave us...Jesus' Peace He speaks of is a unique gift that transcends the world's understanding...It is a source of comfort, strength, and guidance that can help us navigate life's challenges and find lasting joy and fulfillment...
So Jesus' Peace is this profound gift that transcends the world's understanding...It's a deep-seated tranquility that offers comfort, assurance, and strength in the midst of all of life's challenges...
Jesus had earlier comforted His Disciples with these words: “Do not let your hearts be troubled...You believe in God; believe also in Me...My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I AM going there to prepare a place for you?...And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I AM...You know the way to the place where I AM going.”...And Jesus spoke these words while He was still with His Disciples and then He tells them that He has told them these things of His Peace while He was still with them, because soon He would be leaving...But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father would send them in Jesus' Name, would teach them all things and will remind them of everything He had said to them...He then adds" Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you...I do not give to you as the world gives...Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."...Jesus says that He told them these things of His Peace, so that in Him we may have peace in this world...Because in this world we will have trouble...But we can take heart!...Jesus has have overcome this world...
This Peace Jesus talks about is a Gift from God...Jesus offers His peace as a gift, and is not something we can earn or achieve on our own...This peace is a direct result of our relationship with Him...Jesus' peace is distinct from this world's peace...Jesus' Peace is different from the fleeting or superficial peace the world offers...It's a lasting and enduring peace that can sustain us even in the most difficult circumstances...And He teaches us that in Him we may have His Peace...But in this world we will still have troubles...We need to know Jesus to have His Peace and not be troubled in this world, knowing that He has overcame this world...
Knowing this then Jesus' Peace is a Source of Great Comfort...Jesus' Peace offers comfort and reassurance in times of trouble, just as it was as He explained it to His Disciples...It can calm our fears, ease our anxieties, and bring hope to our hearts...Jesus' Peace surpasses our understanding...Jesus' Peace as He describes it surpasses human understanding...It's a deep-seated tranquility that can provide comfort and strength even in the most challenging of life's circumstances...
Therefore, Jesus' Peace is a beacon in our storms of life...Jesus' Peace can be like a beacon of light in the darkness, guiding us through stormy waters and offering hope when we feel lost or alone...His Peace is a Source of Strength...Jesus' Peace can give us the strength to endure hardship and to face challenges with courage and resilience...His Peace is a safe harbor...In the midst of life's turbulent seas, Jesus' Peace can offers us a safe harbor where we can find refuge and rest...It is a guiding star that can illuminate our path and lead us towards a brighter future...It is a source of strength and courage to face life's difficult challenges...Jesus' Peace is our guide for Righteous Living...Jesus' Peace is not just a passive state of tranquility...It also guides us towards righteous living and helps us make choices that align with God's Will...
For Jesus is our Peace...So let not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let our requests be made known to God...And the Peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Jesus...And then we can let the Peace of Jesus rule in our hearts, since as members of one body we are all called to His Peace...
Scripture highlights the importance of Peace in the Christian life and the role that Jesus plays in providing it...By trusting in Jesus and following His teachings, we can experience this Peace that surpasses all understanding...In essence, Jesus' Peace is a manifestation of His LOVE, Grace, and Truth...It's a gift that sustains us, guides us, and ultimately leads us to a deeper relationship with God...
