John 16:33
Troubles in this World
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Acts 1:6-11
The Disciples Watch Jesus Go To Heaven
6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
The Disciples got to watch Jesus' ascension into heaven...It must have been a wonderful sight...
But for the last few weeks, the news has not been showing a pretty or wonderful sight...We have been told for the last few weeks to participate in something I had never heard of before...The idea is to social distance yourself from our neighbors by at least six feet, to aid in the stopping of the pandemic called the coronavirus...This will help your neighbor and will also help you, the doctors are telling us...We are also to confine ourselves and stay inside...And so we are to isolate ourselves from our neighbors and to help both our neighbors and ourselves...
If the gospel is the good news, we need to pray to Jesus for His help in this situation...He needs to give us hope in the dark times of this infectious disease...Hope and time and Jesus will bring the Christian through this sad chapter...Jesus told us that in this world we will have troubles...And right now the troubles are among and around us...But let us take heart, because He has overcome this world of trouble and has went to heaven to be with His Father, after His suffering death on the cross...He has risen and is watching...Let us pray...
