Psalm 119:137-160
צ Tsadhe
137 You are righteous, LORD,
and your laws are right.
138 The statutes you have laid down are righteous;
they are fully trustworthy.
139 My zeal wears me out,
for my enemies ignore your words.
140 Your promises have been thoroughly tested,
and your servant loves them.
141 Though I am lowly and despised,
I do not forget your precepts.
142 Your righteousness is everlasting
and your law is true.
143 Trouble and distress have come upon me,
but your commands give me delight.
144 Your statutes are always righteous;
give me understanding that I may live.
ק Qoph
145 I call with all my heart; answer me, LORD,
and I will obey your decrees.
146 I call out to you; save me
and I will keep your statutes.
147 I rise before dawn and cry for help;
I have put my hope in your word.
148 My eyes stay open through the watches of the night,
that I may meditate on your promises.
149 Hear my voice in accordance with your love;
preserve my life, LORD, according to your laws.
150 Those who devise wicked schemes are near,
but they are far from your law.
151 Yet you are near, LORD,
and all your commands are true.
152 Long ago I learned from your statutes
that you established them to last forever.
ר Resh
153 Look on my suffering and deliver me,
for I have not forgotten your law.
154 Defend my cause and redeem me;
preserve my life according to your promise.
155 Salvation is far from the wicked,
for they do not seek out your decrees.
156 Your compassion, LORD, is great;
preserve my life according to your laws.
157 Many are the foes who persecute me,
but I have not turned from your statutes.
158 I look on the faithless with loathing,
for they do not obey your word.
159 See how I love your precepts;
preserve my life, LORD, in accordance with your love.
160 All your words are true;
all your righteous laws are eternal.
John 16:14
The Spirit is Truth
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John 14:6
Jesus is Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
In Psalms 119 we learn that the Psalmist cries out for the truth...The Psalmist puts His hope in God's word, because His words are true...As we read through this Psalm, we also discover that God's morals and His law are true...And then we read that all His commands are true...
St. John writes that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth...Then He writes about Jesus, where Jesus tells us the He is the truth...Jesus tells us that He did not come to earth to abolish the Law or the Prophets, but to fulfill them...Then He tells His apostles while eating broiled fish with them, after His resurrection, that everything must be fulfilled in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms (Luke 24:44)...Jesus came to earth to communicate to us the things about God and His attributes...No one talks and knows more about God than Jesus did...He talked continuously about His Father in those three short years of His ministry...Jesus came to save us from our sins...The Psalmist teaches about the Truth of God...St. John teaches us about the Truth of God...St. Luke teaches us that Jesus fulfills the Psalms and all Scripture, because He is the Bible...Jesus came to earth to teach us all about truth...
We learn that God and His word are the truth...God is Truth...Jesus is the Truth...The Holy Spirit is truth...The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are Truth...The Trinity is the Truth...
