John 12:23-26
Jesus Predicts His Death
23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
John 16:13
The Holy Spirit Will Guide Us to the Truth
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
Matthew 10:28
Fear the One Who Can Kill the Body and the Soul
28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Anyone who loves their life on earth will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life...Jesus maybe be telling us that we must serve and sacrifice and be willing to follow Him...But as one reads this, does it make sense that we want to lose our lives on earth?...And as in everything He says it very much makes sense...When we think of terms of personal meaning and personal significance and finding meaning in life, where do those thoughts come from and originate?...If we have evolved from one celled creatures and came from our ape-like grandparents, why would we yearn to know the meaning of life?...Jesus, the One Kernel of Wheat, that will fall to the ground and would die, yet a new Christian religion will be produced with many followers for all time...Our LORD is of greatest significance...
If we are just here randomly, why would we search for things beyond the transient?...Why are we so concerned by the fleeting years in our lives?...Why aren't we more comfortable in this here and now (after being here for generations)?...Why do we have a belief and longing for eternal life?...Is our soul calling to God?...Does our soul seek Him throughout our lives, looking for this meaning?...Does our soul seek Him with our unanswered questions of life?...Is our Holy Spirit seeking Him looking for the sacred Truths in life?...If all of our ancestors are non-Godly and have evolved, why would we want or think about eternal life?...In this Kernel of Wheat and His death, much will come...Yet, death and even His death remains a great mystery...And despite this great mystery, we still have this longing for the significance of heaven...He gives life meaning...Our soul helps give life meaning...
