Logistics uses the reading block style to locate internal readings to print the readings for students. Reading block styles can’t be applied within activities or discussions, so place readings outside of these elements and refer to them within your discussion or activity.
It’s assumed that any readings that we have stored in iQuailfy (internal) are cleared to print. If a reading isn’t cleared to print, don’t upload it – link to the external source.
A reading is a strong, stand-alone, referenced document that is an essential part of a course.
Do students need an extra text to complete the course? If yes, it’s a reading. If no, it’s a further resource (programmes use either Further resources or Dig deeper as a heading when providing these resources. They are the same thing – ensure one term only is applied consistently in a programme).
Walk through the questions below.
To apply a reading style:
This will place the highlighted text in a styled reading box, as shown below.
Note the fnref: box is the reference link that will correctly format upon saving the text box.
There are two types of readings: internal and external.
Internal readings are scanned or saved PDFs that are uploaded to the Resources section of iQualify – that is, they are held internally in iQualify. They are then linked in the text using the File item from the edit text menu or alternatively by copying the link from the Other files area and using the standard link menu option.
Internal readings:
For internal readings, copyright clearance for both online and print must be obtained and the correct attribution added to the reference.
This process is covered in the Copyright section of this guide.

External readings are linked to web pages or resources outside of iQualify.
External readings:
iSearch provides a readings report that lists all readings in your course and the associated references. See iTools for details.
