Competency-based assignsments

Competency based assignments have no weighting.

How to insert no weightings for assignments in iQualify

1. Go to Assessment items in your iQualify course and look at Assessment settings for each item.
2. If this is a brand new course, the weightings box will say 0% and nothing will be written in Mark type.
3. Delete the 0% so that nothing is written in Weighting percentage.
4. In the Mark type box write CM.

5. Select Update settings and wait for the green bar to go all the way across the top of the page and the following message to appear in the right-hand corner of your screen.

Note: Once the Saved current assessment item message appears, the percentages will change automatically and show as 0% again. Don’t panic, this is a default iQualify setting and not true.

You should see something similar once you’ve made the updates.

Finally, to double check that your assignments truly have no weightings, select the Preview button in the left-hand menu. Then select the Assessments tab and you should see nothing in the spaces for weightings for the competency-based assignments.

In the above example we also decided to add a blurb so that students have some explanation of competency-based assignments. Our horticulture courses all had a standard bit about marking in each assignment PDF, so we included this is the main Assessment overview page for clarity. What others use may depend on the particular programme.
