As a commercial organisation Open Polytechnic must ensure that is has the right to display and distribute material. All copyright information is recorded for each course, so it’s important to complete the relevant copyright forms and send them to Open Polytechnic’s copyright office.
For material that has been developed for or by Open Polytechnic the copyright attribution is © TOPNZ Ltd (no full stop in the attribution).
This procedure outlines the steps for using third party material in courses and publications in any medium. It covers the roles and responsibilities of those involved in the copyright clearance process.
Primarily this will be the originator (usually the writer) of the material. The originator applies directly to the copyright manager.
Any other person using a third party resource may apply for copyright clearance.
Complete the appropriate forms for written works or images.
Email the completed forms to the copyright manager. (External writers may have an agreement to submit these to their educational designer.)
The copyright manager processes the application and will return the form with the correct copyright attribution and instructions to the requesting party.
Add the returned copyright attribution to the copyright field for images and the references for written material.
