Assessment items

Assessments are not available when Tasks have been enabled. See Assessed Tasks for more information on creating assessments using tasks..

The Assessment items area is where all the assessed aspects of the course are managed.

Mark Type and Number

Both Mark type and Mark number should be taken from the Check Assessment Dates or Course Audit Report (VPN) or your Course Descriptor e.g. AS1 would have a make type of AS and a Mark number of 1.

Assessed quizzes

Quizzes that have been set to be assessed will automatically appear under Quizzes.

Note: Removing an assessed quiz using Remove from assessment plan will permanently delete that quiz unit.

Adding assessments

Assessments are added using the + Add assessments button.

There are four assessment types that can be added:

Open response.
Video.
File upload.
Other activity.

File upload

File upload is by far the most common form of assessment used at Open Polytechnic and will be used as an example for the remainder of this section.

Selecting File upload will bring up the following dialog box to enter the assignment details.

The assignment is given a title and any instructions the student requires that are not part of the assignment itself, and the assignment is uploaded as a PDF. Note: Multiple files may be uploaded, allowing related resources to be made available from within the assignment area.

After these details have been saved the weighting of the assignment can be set.
