Editing an active course is a mouthful so the term 'Live edit' was born.
This walk through goes through the steps involved and the dialog boxes and dire warnings that appear when live editing.
Click the Edit button on a published course
A dialog will appear giving you the option to duplicate rather than edit.
Click 'Continue' - You will be taken to the course title part of build.
A warning will appear that changes to the course title will not take effect. See Attributes that will not be updated in the previous page.
Go to the contents area and edit as normal. Existing pages can be edited and new modules, topics and units can be added.
Changes will not become visible until the course has been (re) published.
Until that time the course 'card' will display both 'Published' and 'Under construction'
Course card showing a course both published and under construction.
When all required changes have been made re-publish the course by simply publishing as normal.
These changes will now be visible on the live course!
The course 'card' will now indicate that there are previous published versions by displaying a 'watch' symbol next to 'Published'.
Clicking on this watch will bring up a list of previous publications that can be duplicated if required.
Published course that has been edited and published showing revisions.
Clicking on the 'watch' show the various revisions. These can be duplicated but not edited or made current.
