The Zodiac Killer was a serial killer in California during the late 1960s. He killed 5 people and injured 2 of his victims, although he claimed to kill 37 people. He sent threats to newspapers and police and made a cipher that no one could crack. No one was ever arrested, and this case remains open. One of his quotes was “I like killing people because it is so much fun.” and the rest was in his cipher. In 2020 after 50 years the killer's code was deciphered. It read “I hope you are having lots of fun in trying to catch me that wasn’t me on the TV show which brings up a point about me I am not afraid of the gas chamber because it will send me to Paradise all the sooner because I now have enough slaves to work for me where everyone else has nothing when they reach Paradise so they are afraid of death I am not afraid because I know that my new life is life will be an easy one in Paradise death.”


Was he ever caught?

Was the Zodiac killer caught in both the known and presumed Zodiac murders? No suspect has ever been arrested. In the five decades since the Faraday-Jensen murders on December 20th, 1968. The inability to identify the Zodiac Killer has continued to frustrate law enforcement. Case updates in 2020, after more than 50 years, amateur codebreakers solved the Zodiac Killer's cipher. In October 2021, a team of 40 former law enforcement investigators called the Case Breakers, claimed to have identified the Zodiac Killer. However, the FBI stated that the case was still open.

Newest 2022 Updates

The Zodiac Killer killed 5 people from 1968 to 1969. He puzzled the police by sending coded letters to the newspaper. In October 2021, a team of cold-case investigators identified the killer as Gary Francis Poste. This was not an official statement because he died before they could prove it. Poste was a US Air Force veteran2 from California. In 2018 he died at the age of 80. Some claimed he was a violent man. A male relative accused Poste of trying to kill him with a hammer. Poste's daughter-in-law Michelle Wynn also accused Poste of being the killer. Poste was also locked in a mental hospital because he was too mentally ill to face a trial. If Poste were to face a trial, he could have faced a jail sentence. It is believed Poste is the assassin due to evidence found in Poste's darkroom. Showing some of the coded notes, the evidence proves Poste killed Cheri Jo Bates according to the group. However, this case remains open.
