Many teachers have children at home, but many others say they have little fur-children!

Ancho Schultz

Mr. Schultz has one dog named Ancho Gordo Cabeza de Vaca Mc Schniffins, or just Ancho! Ancho was adopted at a rescue agency this previous summer. They believe he is a Rhodesian Ridgeback, but they aren’t all that sure. Ancho is described as being a huge sweetheart! Even making friends with a deer!

Everybody in the family does a little bit of work for Ancho. As Mr. Schultz says, “He is the responsibility for our whole family, but my wife walks him the most; my son cuddles him the most; and I pick up most of the poop.”

Skipper Kitazono

Ms. Kitazono has one wonderful dog named Skipper! He is a West Highland Terrier, also known as a Westie.

Skipper is an older mellow dog, so he does not run around much. He loves to go on walks and takes his guard dog duties very seriously. Although he hasn’t attacked anyone, he barks up a storm when the doorbell is rung, or someone walks past the back yard. Ms. Kitazono is the one who usually cares for him, but everyone in the family helps out! He is normally extremely easy to care for, but when the summer thunderstorms hit, it gets frustrating as he thinks the thunder is an intruder and barks during the entire storm! They have tried many approaches to calm him down, but so far nothing has worked! Oh well...

They call him a runner because if he gets off his leash, he’ll run away as if they are playing a game! According to Ms. Kitazono, in his mind he sees this “game” as “Chase Me and I’ll Run Further!” One winter, one of their guests let him out and they had to chase him down the neighborhood for a mile! It was dark and slippery, but Skipper was having the time of his life! As soon as they would get close enough to grab him, “Zip!”, he would speed up! Eventually, he lost steam and they were able to scoop him up. Thank goodness!

Rufio, Kid, and Morgan Wittry

Mrs. Goodwin-Wittry has three pets! A cat named Rufio, a big dog named Morgan, and a puppy named Kid!

Rufio is 9 years old. He sleeps inside normally but can let himself out through the doggie door whenever he wishes. He hates the snow, however, so he can be grouchy those days as he feels he is trapped inside.

Kid is 2 years old and full of energy! She’s earned the nickname “mermaid legs” from how she sits. Kid loves to play and can gnaw toys to pieces in record time!

Morgan is the oldest, being 12 years old. He’s in excellent shape for his age and adores walks! He loves his little sister, Kid, and she’s given him a lot of energy. He likes to take his snoozes on the couch with pillows.

Mrs. G and Mr. Wittry share pet care. The fur-children are normally extremely easy to care for, but the dogs insist on going for long walks! They try to take the dogs out for a hike at least once a week, normally during the weekend. They also have a family property in Penrose where they take the dogs to play in the river! How fun!
