This edition of The Paw Print marks our class hitting 102 articles this school year from December 11, 2020 to April 26, 2021. The Paw Print (TPP) has been a very exciting experience for everyone involved.

If you ask a member of the TPP, whether they are online or in-person, this has been a crazy year. TPP coming to its 100th article is a huge milestone.

In order to write an article there are 15 steps we have to follow for our article to be published:

  1. Make a plan

  2. Schedule an interview with a professional email

  3. Starter questions for interview

  4. Interview and follow-up email saying, “Thanks”

  5. Rough draft

  6. + 8. Peer conference for revising draft

  7. +9. + 11. Revise draft after conference

10. Meet with Mrs. G

12. Revisit previous steps

13. Edit draft (spelling, capitalization, punctuation, grammar)

14. Peer check for proper edits in a draft

15. Finalize draft and submit to publish

Mrs. Goodwin-Wittry, our newspaper sponsor, (who is also Galileo's drama director), stated that she started this class so students can connect with each other, spread good news about Galileo, and publish articles of student interest while working on developing real world skills associated with journalism. Currently, our class has 21 students, with half of the class online and the other half in the building. Mrs. G is proud of all of the class journalists for writing over 100 articles, considering all of the changes the class has gone through this year- from schedule changes to different formats of learning.

Cheryl Garmon, the 6th grade counselor stated that the publication has come very far since December. The first article Mrs. Garmon read was, What to do in Your Free Time which was written by Serena P.
