School Food Reviews and Opinions

Galileo has a variety of foods on the school menu. Some popular things on the menu are pizza, chicken bites, orange chicken and noodles. Some unpopular items include milk, noodles, and the bread of the pizza.

One of the most said opinions on the noodles are that they are always cold and dry one student sated that they should just get rid of noodles all together! Some things just don’t taste all the way cooked which could be a factor based off of the school food because they have a small oven which can only have a certain number of things at a time and there are many kids that need fed so they might have to speed up the process and make it a little undercooked. Another stated opinion by one of your peers is that “the food isn't all bad, the pizza and meat is overall good”.

The waters are also extremely small! Not everyone has a water bottle so most people would like more water so they can not only have water at lunch but also throughout the day. But the water is also very appreciated because it is a cold drink that they can look forward to drinking at lunch. The juice is also small but another opinion that has been stated is that they taste really good.

Although the “good” water fountain on the first floor is cold and everyone would prefer to fill their water bottle there, you shouldn’t! The water filter has not been changed in months and if you check to see if it is green or red most likely it will always be red. While on the topic of water fountains let's talk about the cleanliness of the white-water fountains located on every floor. These white-water fountains are expected to be used by your teachers because they are the closest to the classroom, but have you seen how dirty they are? Multiple times day things are left in them, especially trash. There has also been thrown up found in them! How often do you think they should clean the water fountains for good clean water that we drink from? They have recently added a new water filter while in the process of writing the article.

Some things that others and I think should be included to the menu are mac and cheese, desserts, and tacos. Someone said anonymously. That they would prefer more options. People also have been asking for a reward system in the cafeteria, so if someone cleans up the cafeteria and has been helpful, they could get a special item like chips or a cookie. Another person said that soda would be a great thing to add to the menu! They think it would be a great asset to the lunch menu and would encourage more people to have the school lunch.

Did you know that most of the ingredients used in our school food actually come from the school garden? The Galileo school food is also similar to other schools in the d11 district. There is also a limited staff in the cafeteria at the moment so if you are willing to help with some paw bucks then I'm sure the staff would appreciate it!

Do you think we should have to pay for school lunch? Currently at Galileo we do not have to pay for the school lunch, but should we? Many other schools do unfortunately make their students pay. Although it is said by many people that not everyone can afford lunch and should be able to have a meal! Many other schools have their students pay to cover the lunch people's paycheck so why isn't that the case for us?
