Eighth grade WEB classes have been pushing into sixth grade advisory classes.

WEB is an eighth grade leadership class that focuses on helping the sixth graders transition into middle school. WEB leaders help sixth graders feel welcomed since it is there first time being in the school, and help new students find their classes.

WEB Leaders are all eighth graders and were trained by the Galileo staff members in early August, as well as periodically during advisory classes. Their mission is to help with the sixth grade students with the transition to middle school by pushing into sixth grade classes.

Mr. Owen, Mr. Segura, and Mr. Pechek all run WEB classes with the WEB Leaders in their advisory classes. They have been working with them all year.

Mr. Pechek said that WEB meets in the gym every Tuesday and Friday for entire group activities. On other days the students are split between Mr. Owen, Mr. Segura, and Mr. Pechek during advisory.

Mr. Owen said WEB stands for "Where Everybody Belongs".

Mr. Pechek said that this year has been is challenging with them trying to push into the sixth grade classes and that they try to do something with them once a quarter but said it has been not nearly as often as they would like.

WEB Leaders plan a week before pushing into advisory classes.

Mr. Owen stated, “The idea behind having our WEB leaders “push-in” to or visit sixth grade classrooms is create a feeling of community; it’s important for new sixth grade students to have a sense of belonging.”
