Mask Breaks Help In-Person Students

I am pretty sure you all know we have to wear masks in the school building so we do not end up spreading Covid (if we unknowingly have Covid) but wouldn't it suck to wear a mask eight hours for five days in a row every week? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a breather every now and then?

That is exactly why we have mask breaks!

But what is the point of mask breaks?

Mask breaks are needed to give students a breather from wearing them. Sometimes students get tired or annoyed having to wear a mask 24/7. For example, imagine sitting in a class for at least an hour or so with a mask on. I am pretty sure you would want a break from having it on for so long. So that is exactly what our teachers provide to in-person learners- a mask break!

What do we do during our mask breaks?

I interviewed three students, Esperanza, Lily, and Alex, about their experience with in-person mask breaks.

Esperanza stated, “Usually you would go outside if the weather was decent. Most people walk around, or they play games such as tag whenever they get a chance. Usually it is practically just a break from work or school for a bit.”

It will be helpful especially if you're stressing out over something, or you're just overall really tired and overwhelmed.

Alex and Autumn both listed that usually they also go outside as well. Some classes walk around the building or some talk to their friends depending on how much time they have before they have to go back inside.

Mask breaks also give you a chance to get water or use the restroom, so overall mask breaks are like a short break or breather depending on what you need to do.

Stay safe!
