No More Snow Days?

Are snow days now work days or free days??

The answer is, for now on our typical snow days will be workdays. Snow days are going to be E-learning from now on. As in, we have fully online learning with WebEx meetings at the same starting times that we usually do. Kids will be at home on the computer and learning.

Who made this decision and why?

Surprising, Mr. Miller, our principal did not make the decision. The D11 school district, meaning the school board and Dr. Thomas, made this decision. They had already made this decision before our first snow day. They made this decision because we already learn online, so we might as well just have a student learning day.

What would it look like?

From now, snow days will look like this: we will be go to our classes online through WebEx, but the teachers will be at home and no one will be in the building.

Mr. Miller Insight

During the interview I had with Mr. Miller, he answered a lot of my questions. One of them was, “How many days of school have we missed this year?” and he answered with, “Quite a bit. It is not the same learning online, and teaching is slow because of e-learning”.

When I asked him what he would like to add, Mr. Miller stated, “It is a tremendous change moving from snow days to e-learning."
