Officer Dull is Not Dull

Who is Officer Dull?

Keegan Dull is a School Resource Officer at Galileo School of Math and Science. Officer Dull helps teach classes, keeps an eye on something if asked to, and connects with students. Officer Dull has been in D11 and Galileo since September of 2020.

He came to Galileo after talking to Mr. Miller about the students, culture, and support. Officer Dull said in an interview that, “I look forward to helping and teaching the students.” Dull is here to have a positive impact on students, and to help them to be the best that they can be.

Officer Dull became an officer in January of 2017. There was a devastating windstorm during which Officer Dull was not intimidated. Before he had moved to Colorado, he had already seen tipped semi-trucks on the interstate.

Within three years of moving to Colorado, Officer Dull was actively on duty and had an encounter with a black bear. This happened when Officer Dull was in Old Colorado City. He was helping somebody under a bridge, when a black bear came up behind them, and then walked away! Officer Dull took in it in stride and says the bear was telling them, "Hi.” According to Officer Dull the bear was a mother bear so she was probably trying to protect her cubs.

Why is Officer Dull an Officer?

Officer Dull was inspired to be a police officer by another police officer. They had helped him get out an inconvenient situation as a child. Therefore, because of this other officer, Dull is now a police officer and a student resource officer in the Colorado Springs area and D11 helping others.

How Do Officers Deescalate a Situation?

To deescalate a situation Officer Dull stated that it is an innovative idea to separate the members involved in the situation so nobody gets hurt. He then sees what they are feeling, thinking, and doing their actions. Once he gets all the sides of the story, he talks to them about how they can prevent it from happing again in the future.

Officer Dull stated that, “If you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here. If you ever need anything I’m here, I’m here to make sure everyone is safe and happy.”

What is Officer Dulls thoughts on 2020?

Officer Dull, just like everyone else, is over the damage of 2020 because of the pain, suffering, and the loss of others. He has also said that thanks to 2020, people have come together with fundraisers, community love, friendship, loyalty, and more.
