Summer 2020 in a Pandemic

This summer in 2020 was different than all the other summers in the past. When Covid-19 came in our lives in the beginning of 2020, activities including school, but it affected not only our summer. But Covid-19 did not stop me from having fun this summer.

This summer, my cousin, Jyevawni, and I traveled to Virginia to go visit our family. Even though we could not do much, we still made the best out of it by spending time with each other.

While visiting family in Virginia, my cousins, Jyevawni and Tati, and I played games. We even came up with a game called, “Hide and Clap”. "Hide and Clap" is like hide-and-seek but the person who is "seeking" is blindfolded, and they have to try to find the other people. Also while the person it is trying to find the other people, the lights are also off so that makes it harder for the people that are hiding and are not blindfolded. The seeker has to call for claps- like first clap, second clap and third clap, so it makes it easier to find hiders.

I also met new people this summer. I got to meet my cousin's god sisters, god brother, and god mom. So meeting them just made summer 10x better. One of her god sisters name is Ayanna, the other is Ava, and her god brother's name is Javian. All three of them coming to join us for this summer just made me and my cousin trio feel complete.

Some other fun things we did this summer was we got to go to Ocean City, which is known as a popular beach in Maryland. While we were there walking on the border, we saw a famous public figure, Saucy Sev, but we did not ask for any pictures because we were too shy. But as we were walking past him I did make eye contact with him. After he walked past us, we were jumping with excitement. We kept looking back at him to see where he was going. Overall, being at Ocean City with my family was very fun.

A few weeks later, Jyevawni and I had to get ready to come back to Colorado. My family decided it would be good to go to Virginia Beach before we left because it was going to be our last time seeing our family in Virginia until next summer.

Hopefully, in summer 2021, we can do more activities like go to amusement parks, the movies, and go on a cruise.

Overall, I had a good summer meeting new people and being quarantined with my family! Something this summer taught me about family is it does not matter about the amount of fun you have, it matters about how much time you spend with your family.

I did not have any pictures of Ayanna and Javian.
