MYP Design Command Terms

Designers are communicators.

Explaining and justifying your design decisions are essential skills for designers.

Command Terms

IB Command Terms are words(verbs) that guide and define what you need to do.

They are the foundation of your rubric and your Design Inquiry Portfolio.

Understanding the command terms is essential for your success as a designer and MYP and DP design student.

The command terms are organized along a continuum. Low Order Thinking (LOT) refers to remembering and understanding. High Order Thinking (HOT). Notice how HOT is typically related to higher markbands (grades).

The MYP Design rubric is organized around Command Terms.

Notice how the command term is different for each markband
