Leatherback turtles can live in the kelp forest, open ocean, reef, and estuary!
Abilities:
Boosting will make the leatherback turtle lunge forward and deal 163 damage, using a boost bar.
Using a charged boost will make the leatherback turtle create a shield around itself that lasts for 1.5 seconds or until it is broken, using a boost bar.
The shield has 200 HP, and deals 130 damage to animals that touch it, bypassing armor.
Animals that touch the shield will deal damage to it even if they are not facing it.
When the shield is active, the leatherback will not take damage from other animals. The shield destroys projectiles, but it takes damage in the process.
Attacks that cause bleeding will make the leatherback turtle bleed, even if the shield is active. Attacks that electrocute the leatherback turtle will disable the shield.
Using a charged boost while being grabbed by animals (except for anaconda and lobster) will break through the grab, stunning the other animal for 0.5 seconds and using a boost bar.
Being damaged on the head will bypass the leatherback turtle's armor, and it will take full damage.
Leatherback turtles cannot damage or be damaged by animals on tier 1 (except for worm and piranha), but they can still damage them with the shield.
Strategies: Leatherback turtles are defensive animals. Don't waste your boost unless it is an emergency. If you are grabbed and thrown into a biome you don't belong in, use your shield to protect your escape, then airboost away. Try not to break out of grabs too much as it wastes boost bars.
